SEATTLE — Optimum Energy and The Data Guild announced they are collaborating on developing machine learning-based energy efficiency solutions for enterprise facilities. The joint effort focuses on enhancing Optimum’s energy optimization software, enabling greater energy savings for customers.

As Optimum continues to add multi-site HVAC systems to its Real-Time Dynamic Commissioning™ network, it is compiling a growing amount of real-world operating data. Optimum is partnering with the Data Guild’s team of data scientists to test and develop machine learning and predictive maintenance algorithms.

“We’re excited to partner with The Data Guild on developing truly cutting-edge energy efficiency solutions that are grounded in big data analysis,” said Matthew Frey, president and CEO of Optimum Energy. “Our mission is to provide our customers with reliable, data-driven energy efficiency. The Data Guild’s track record in data science and control automation makes them an ideal partner in this ongoing effort.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with Optimum Energy on the global mission to reduce carbon emissions and develop increasingly sustainable building systems,” said Cameron Turner, co-founder of The Data Guild. “We see real bottom-line impact for Optimum Energy’s current and future customers, and the opportunity to bring machine learning technology to a larger market.”

Optimum’s operating data provides detailed insights on relative system and component performance. Optimum and The Data Guild are exploring techniques for using this data to predict performance of mechanical systems to meet heating and cooling loads more efficiently. The ongoing research and development will feed into software enhancements that Optimum will offer customers in 2014 and beyond.
