The 9,000-, 12,000-, and 18,000-Btu single-zone line of compact cassettes and slim duct systems now fit a wider range of installations; they can be coupled with a single-zone heat pump or air conditioning unit as well as with a multi-zone outdoor condensing system. Heating capacity at low outdoor temperatures is achieved through the use of a large heat exchanger and a high-capacity compressor. The systems operate optimally with ambient temperatures as low as -5°F. The ceiling cassette unit fits into the space of a standard 22.5-inch ceiling tile. In addition to a larger heat exchanger, the manufacturer has equipped the ceiling cassette units with a two-stage turbo fan, providing even air distribution and two separate airflow streams. The compact duct unit can be installed horizontally or vertically. According to the company, because of the built-in drain pump, the slim duct unit requires only 9.4 inches of space in the ceiling or in the wall for installation. The RLFCC and RLFCD units are ideal for residential spot cooling applications, hospital rooms, dorms, and office suites, said the manufacturer.
