ARLINGTON, Va. — The HVACR Workforce Development Foundation announced that it has welcomed four new members to its board of trustees. The foundation’s objectives are to raise awareness of the HVACR and water heating industry; create interest in the industry as a career choice; and enhance the quality and quantity of the available workforce.

The new members of the board of trustees are: Rosemary Sparks, executive director of the Construction Sector Council; Janet B. Bray, CAE, chief strategist and founder of Bray Strategies; Thomas N. Applegate, executive director for the Ohio Association of Career and Technical Superintendents; and Bryan D. Albrecht, Ed.D., president and chief executive officer of Gateway Technical College.

“These individuals’ diverse backgrounds and demonstrated appreciation for the foundation’s mission and goals make them an excellent fit for the board of trustees,” said Donald Frendberg, executive director.

The new members join Frendberg; Stephen Yurek, chairman (Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute); Paul Stalknecht, secretary/treasurer (Air Conditioning Contractors of America); Talbot Gee (Heating, Air-conditioning, and Refrigeration Distributors International); Warren Heeley (Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada); Gerry Kennedy (Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association); Jeff Littleton (ASHRAE); Mark Lowry (Refrigeration Service Engineers Society); and Wade Smith (Air Movement and Control Association International).

“These professionals have the business acumen, determination, and commitment to excellence that will allow us to educate a greater number of qualified professionals about the challenging and interesting careers available to them in the HVACR and water heating field,” Frendberg said. “I look forward to working with them to build on the success that the foundation has enjoyed thus far.”
