DENVER — Hercules Industries Inc., a manufacturer and wholesale distributor of HVAC sheet metal products and equipment, has been awarded the 2013 Department of Colorado American Legion Employer of Veterans Award in the Large Business category. This award recognizes employers across the country who have established outstanding records in the employment of military veterans.

“We are extremely proud and grateful to be considered for and awarded the Employer Veterans Award,” said Bill Newland, chairman of the board for Hercules. “With this award we hope to demonstrate to the communities we serve how proud we are of the Herculean men and women who have served this country. These individuals bring to our company a powerful combination of purpose, work ethic, leadership, and an unmistakable drive to succeed.”

Founded in Denver in 1962 by William E. Newland, Hercules Industries is now one of the largest companies of its type in the western and midwestern United States, and has valued the experience that military veterans bring to the company since its beginning.

“We are grateful for the impact these past and present individuals have had on this company throughout our five decades of business,” Newland said. “Our veterans display a work ethic and a sense of responsibility that is looked up to by many in our workforce. With this award, we hope to set an example for other businesses who see the value that our veterans bring to our company and the communities we serve.”

Hercules Industries was one of several Colorado businesses nominated in the large company category with 201 or more employees.

“On behalf of 340 Herculeans, the three generations of our family members in this business, and my late father and founder of our company and a devoted Marine, I thank all who made this recognition possible,” said Newland.
