OCEANSIDE, Calif. — RESNET Home Energy Raters will soon have a new certification available from North American Technician Excellence (NATE).

The HVAC Performance Verification Certification for certified Home Energy Raters could provide added credibility for raters in reviewing load calculations and quality assurance reviews of the quality of installation of HVAC systems for programs such as EPA’s Energy Star Certified Homes and HVAC Quality Installation programs, and ACCA’s Residential Service & Installation (RSI) program.

To qualify for the new NATE HVAC Performance Verification Certification, Home Energy Raters must pass a NATE test. RESNET worked with NATE in developing the test. Brett Dillon of IBS Advisors, Lee O’Neal of MABTEC, and Dennis Stroer of CalcsPlus represented RESNET in the development of the test.

A beta version of the test will soon be available for certified RESNET Home Energy Raters through participating RESNET accredited rating providers. A recruiting notice to training providers will soon be sent out.
