ONTARIO, Calif. — The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) has extended the deadline for volunteers wishing to participate on two technical committees working toward the development of the 2015 editions of the Uniform Solar Energy and Hydronics Code (USEHC) and the Uniform Swimming Pool, Spa and Hot Tub Code (USPSHTC). The deadline to submit an application has been extended to June 25.

The USEHC Technical Committee and USPSHTC Technical Committee each seek members in the following categories: manufacturer, user, installer/maintainer, labor, research/standards/testing laboratory, enforcing authority, consumer, and special expert. These committees are assembled in accordance with the regulations governing consensus development of the USEHC and USPSHTC and the guide for the conduct of participants in the IAPMO codes and standards development process. These documents may be viewed at IAPMO’s Code Development Process web page. Within them, prospective technical committee participants can find information on the scope and general guidelines for conduct of these committees.

IAPMO first adopted the USEHC and USPSHTC in September 1976. The provisions of these codes apply to the erection, installation, alteration, repair, relocation, replacement, addition to or maintenance of any solar energy, hydronic heating/cooling, swimming pool, spa, or hot tub system. The 2009 and 2012 editions of these codes were produced using a consensus process similar to the one used to develop the Uniform Mechanical Code® and Uniform Plumbing Code®, which are designated as American National Standards.

Anyone interested in serving on one of these committees should complete the IAPMO Technical Committee Membership Application.
