EAST PETERSBURG, Pa. — The National Association of Oil & Energy Service Professionals (OESP) is accepting applications for the Dave Nelson Scholarship program for students interested in pursuing careers in the energy-service industry.
“The oil-and-energy industry is continually looking for qualified technicians,” said Judy Garber, executive director, OESP. “OESP’s mission is education and we’re taking the lead by supporting our future technicians through annual scholarships.”
The scholarship, established in 1999, has awarded more than $191,000 during its time. The OESP plans to award at least four $5,000 awards this year.
Each scholarship applicant is required to write a 500-word essay answering the following questions: “What are your goals in the oil-and-energy service field, and what appeals to you about the oil-and-energy industry?”
Applicants must also complete a form that may assist them in the writing of their essay. The deadline for receipt of the application and essay is March 1.
OESP’s panel judges will review the submitted applications. Winners will be notified and invited to attend an awards banquet, held on Tuesday evening during OESP’s 60th Annual Convention & Trade Show, May 19-23 at the Hershey Lodge in Hershey, Pa.
