Industry Pushes for Reform

WASHINGTON — The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA); Heating, Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI); and 38 other national organizations “strongly urge” Congress to pursue comprehensive tax reform to lower rates on all forms of business income.

The organizations recently sent a letter to Congress, asking members to enact significant entitlement reforms that help put the federal budget on a sustainable fiscal path. In the letter, the organizations called on Congress to avoid raising marginal tax rates on employers, whether that comes as part of negotiations regarding the “fiscal cliff,” or as part of a larger tax-reform effort.

The groups hope Congress will not enact corporate-only reform, citing no economic or political justification to do so, and are hopeful members will not only commit to tax reform but also to reforming Social Security and Medicare by developing a long-term plan to address each.
