BPI Requests Funds

MALTA, N.Y. — The Building Performance Institute (BPI), along with U.S. Sens. Jack Reed, D-R.I., Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, and Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., is urging President Obama to support its programs in his Fiscal Year 2014 budget proposal.

The group is asking Obama to include no less than $210 million for the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) and $50 million for the State Energy Program (SEP).

The group says restoring WAP funding will ensure that all states have the resources to help reduce energy costs via weatherization for low-income families.

The funds provided for SEP will help states assist with the development of energy efficiency and renewable-energy products.
