WASHINGTON — The buildingSMART alliance announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with buildingSMART Canada while attending buildingSMART International meetings in Tokyo.

According to buildingSMART alliance, the five-year renewable agreement is focused on building information modeling (BIM) standards, which are critical for interoperability throughout the building industry, and specifically addresses the joint development and content sharing of the National BIM Standard for both countries. The buildingSMART alliance has similar agreements with buildingSMART Korea, buildingSMART United Kingdom and Ireland, and another group in Canada, CanBIM.
