Dec. 19, 2012: American Energy Manufacturing Technical Corrections Act Is Signed into Law

WASHINGTON — President Obama has signed H.R. 6582, the American Energy Manufacturing Technical Corrections Act, into law. The bill, which was supported by the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), was passed by the House of Representatives and Senate in early December.

“We are grateful for the strong support and hard work on this bill by several of our member companies, as well as our legislative staff and the many cosponsors in the House and Senate,” said Stephen Yurek, AHRI president and CEO. “This is common sense legislation that will go a long way in helping our member companies as they work to rebuild our economy.”

The bill contains corrections to commercial refrigeration standards, specifically correcting standards for service-over-the-counter commercial refrigerators; it codifies standards for small-duct high-velocity systems into U.S. law; and it makes important technical corrections to laws impacting AHRI members, said the association. The bill also expedites the creation of a uniform efficiency descriptor and accompanying test procedure for water heaters one year from the date of passage.
