Danfoss Hosts Seminars

December 17, 2012
BALTIMORE — More than 70 consulting engineers recently attended seminars held in the San Francisco and Irvine, Calif., areas to learn about the Danfoss AB-QM valve.

The AB-QM pressure independent control valve (PICV) from Danfoss blends two conventional system components, the balancing valve and the control valve, into one compact valve to provide a cost-effective means to ensure design flow at each terminal coil regardless of system differential pressure fluctuations.

Led by Miha Kavcic, product portfolio director at Danfoss, the seminar included a professional demonstration panel that mimics a heating and cooling application in a multistory building. The application was designed to be controlled by both a traditional valve setup, including manual balancing valves or flow-limiting valves, and by AB-QM PICVs in order to show the difference in performance. The demonstration panel was fully supported by software so that seminar participants could see changes in flow and pressure in real time.

Additionally, the interactive seminar allowed participants to input their own values, including system pressure, system load, room load, and more, to be able to see and compare system performance between a traditional design and an AB-QM design in a way that was relevant to their work.

Also on display was a smaller, portable demonstration panel that showed the effectiveness of the AB-QM PICVs in responding to fluctuations in system pressure. The smaller unit was also offered for in-house demonstrations so the attendees could share what they learned about the Danfoss AB-QM valve with their colleagues back at the office.
