Canada Shares Shipment Data

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, Canada — According to the Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Institute of Canada’s (HRAI) Manufacturer’s Division, second-quarter shipments increased across numerous HVAC sectors.

Air handling unit shipments increased 62 percent; unit heater shipments, 39 percent; commercial air conditioning shipments, 13 percent; residential furnace shipments, 7 percent; and chiller bookings, 1 percent. Ductless split shipments decreased by 15 percent and residential air conditioning shipments fell 11 percent when compared to the second quarter of 2011.

Air handling shipments increased from 409 units in 2011 to 662 units in 2012. Year to date, air handlers have increased 19 percent.

Commercial air conditioning units increased from 9,412 to 10,667; year-to-date shipments are up 9 percent.

Residential furnace shipments rose from 53,418 to 57,323; year-to-date shipments are up 8 percent.

Chiller bookings rose from 223 units to 225 units. Year-to-date bookings are down 3 percent.

Ductless split systems fell from 37,473 units to 32,029 units, with year-to-date numbers showing a 7 percent decrease.
