Nov. 8, 2012: Energy Points and SustainEdge Introduce University Sustainability Initiative

BOSTON — Energy Points, a provider of energy analytics for resource management, and SustainEdge, a leading sustainability consultancy, have announced the launch of the Higher Edge Energy Points Solution (HEEP), what the companies say is a comprehensive trial solution designed to increase sustainability and reduce energy consumption at academic campuses.

“We have seen tremendous growth and interest in sustainability programs across higher education institutions as universities and colleges look to reduce their consumption of natural resources and institute behavior that fits with a sustainable model,” said William Russell, managing director, SustainEdge. “The Higher Edge Energy Points Solution provides the faculty, students, and staff of these institutions with the tools needed to accurately measure the fundamental environmental impact of their sustainability projects.”

Using EnergyPoints Analytics, SustainEdge will provide a complete analysis of all resource streams managed in a campus setting, including heating, electricity, water, transportation, waste, and more. EnergyPoints Analytics is designed to transform all these domains into energy, enabling a direct comparison of resource usage regardless of the domain or metric.

SustainEdge will use EnergyPoints Analytics to provide an analysis of which environmental projects are having the greatest environmental and financial benefits. This provides organizations with the visibility and capability to plan and manage the best use of budget towards their goals. According to the companies, the Higher Edge Energy Points Solution provides a holistic approach to sustainability management by offering cutting edge metrics, consultation with sustainability experts, real-time support, and a curriculum library to enrich and involve students in the sustainability initiative.

“We’re excited to partner with SustainEdge to provide universities and colleges across the U.S. with a way to quantify the environmental impact of their sustainability initiatives,” said Ory Zik, founder and CEO of Energy Points. “This program will provide institutions with the ability to perform direct comparisons of their sustainability initiatives so they can accurately communicate the impact of the projects and inform better project decisions that will have a positive campus-wide impact.”
