Chris Strand Purchases Stan’s Heating & Air Conditioning

AUSTIN, Texas — Long-time Austin-area heating and air conditioning contractor, Chris Strand, has acquired Stan’s Heating & Air Conditioning, an Austin company formerly owned by Stan Johnson.

Strand founded Strand Brothers Heating & Air Conditioning in 1978, and later sold the business to Service Experts.

“I sold Strand Brothers and completed my obligation to the new owner at the end of 2010,” Strand said. “But Austin is growing, and I believe there’s a need for a locally-owned heating and air conditioning company with expertise in energy conservation. So my family and I, along with a few key people who formerly worked at Strand Brothers/Service Experts decided to get back in business at Stan’s.”

Unlike traditional heating and air conditioning contractors, Strand said he has focused on a whole-house approach to energy conservation.

Stand said, “It doesn’t do much good to install a highly efficient, 16-SEER system in a home if there’s gaping holes in the ductwork. The cooling and heating system is just one part of the equation. To get the most comfortable living environment and lowest possible cooling bills you’ve also got to look at things like insulation, solar shading, radiant barriers…the whole house.”

Strand is joined at Stan’s Heating & Air Conditioning by his brother Tom Strand, his sister Kate Strand Bennett, and his mother Caroline Strand. Strand’s long-time co-worker, John Williams, is now the general manager at Stan’s. Stan Johnson remains with the company specializing in new construction.
