ASHRAE Names Distinguished Lecturers

ATLANTA — ASHRAE named 11 new distinguished lecturers who provide society chapters with noted authorities and speak on relevant topics that affect the built environment industry.

Now in its 13th year, the Distinguished Lecturer program has presented more than 1,200 lectures since 1999. A total of 76 individuals have been chosen as distinguished lecturers since the programs beginning, representing 14 countries, including Argentina, Canada, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, and United States. These lecturers are available to present on 330 topics and speak a combined eight languages.

The newest lecturers are: Devin A. Abellon, P.E., Uponor North America, Phoenix; Lew Harriman, ASHRAE fellow, director of research, Mason-Grant Consulting, Portsmouth, N.H.; Yuguo Li, Ph.D., ASHRAE fellow, Department of Mechanical Engineering, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong; Alan Niles, Western region commercial sales manager, WaterFurnace International, Gig Harbor, Wash.; Presidential Member Richard H. Rooley, FREng, ASHRAE fellow, ASHRAE-Certified Operations and Performance Management Professional, owner, Rooley Consultants, Bucks, England, United Kingdom; Jerry M. Sipes, Ph.D., P.E., vice president of engineering, Price Industries Inc., Suwanee, Ga.; Om Taneja, Ph.D., P.E., associate director, Service Centers Division, U.S. General Services Administration, Region 2, New York City, N.Y.; Mohammad Tassi, Facilities Planning and Design Unit, American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon; T. David Underwood, P.Eng., ASHRAE fellow, ASHRAE-Certified Commissioning Process Management Professional, Underwood & Associates, Oakville, Ontario, Canada; Lily M. Wang, Ph.D., P.E., associate professor, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Omaha, Neb.; and Douglas F. Zentz, associate professor and program coordinator for the HVACR programs within the College of Engineering Technology at Ferris State University, Big Rapids, Mich.
