MALTA, N.Y. — The Building Performance Institute Inc. (BPI) has announced that its new Standard for Residential Building Quality Assurance Related to Post-Installation Field Inspections (BPI-6300-S-201x) is now available for public comment.

BPI said the standard, also known as the QA Field Inspection Standard, was developed by a working group created by its Standards Technical Committee (STC) and comprised of subject matter experts representing a variety of interest categories and geographical locations. The QA Field Inspection Standard provides requirements for quality inspections of residential buildings. This standard includes protocols that provide guidance for third-party inspectors to confirm that home performance upgrades have been installed in accordance with the workscope and applicable standards.

BPI-6300-S-201x is currently undergoing American National Standards Institute (ANSI) review, which includes a public comment period as defined under BPI’s standards development process. Comments are being requested from stakeholders and the general public.

Public comments will be accepted through Sept. 17, 2012. To view this standard and submit comments, visit http://bpi.pnl.gov/forum.php.
