ROCKVILLE, Md. — The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) and its National Certified Pipe Welding Bureau (NCPWB) subsidiary have compiled a set of NCPWB Toolbox Safety Talks addressing key safety concerns for those involved in pipe welding. The talks provide speaking points for contractors’ safety training meetings.

“The NCPWB has enhanced its focus on safety,” said John Barrasso, executive vice president of the MCA of Connecticut and chair of the NCPWB safety task force. “Working with MCAA’s safety and health department, our group created a publication that addresses all aspects of welding safety, including respiratory protection, the safe use of grinding machines, fire safety, and more.”

Pete Chaney, director of safety and health, MCAA, said, “A set of safety talks that specifically address welding hazards will be a big asset to NCPWB members. The talks will help our welders remain cognizant of the most common welding-related hazards and the best ways to protect themselves from those hazards.”

NCPWB Toolbox Safety Talks is available for immediate download from MCAA’s bookstore at www.mcaa.org/store, where contractors can also find a variety of safety and management publications designed specifically for pipe welders. There is no charge for MCAA members to download the publication. The cost for nonmembers is $30.
