TORONTO — Over 320 industry members, spouses, and guests attended a gala event in support of Habitat for Humanity Canada at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. Supported by Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute (HRAI) members, the evening included a silent auction featuring many wonderful wine collections followed by a performance by internationally renowned impressionist Martin Dubé.

“Since our partnership with Habitat for Humanity began in 1994, members have donated over $8.1 million to Habitat for Humanity. CIPH [Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating] members continue to take pride and a leadership role in addressing the need of affordable and decent housing by providing energy-efficient modern hot-water heating systems and water-efficient plumbing products,” stated CIPH chairman of the board Kevin Fullan during the evening.

“Thank you to all the members who have already pledged cash or product to the Habitat Restores for 2012-2013. It is because of your selfless giving that Canadian families can realize the dream of simple and decent home ownership,” said Keith VanderVennet, chair of the CIPH fundraising campaign.

The CIPH board has announced that the ninth CIPH-sponsored home build will take place in Ottawa in 2012. A celebration event is planned for June 27 in conjunction with CIPH’s Annual Business Conference, June 24-26, 2012, in Montebello, Quebec.

The 2012-2013 Fundraising Committee announced an aggressive goal to raise $2.75 million in product and cash for Habitat for Humanity Canada by the end of 2013. Major donors have already pledged both product and cash to the 2012-2013 fundraising campaign.
