SAN FRANCISCO — The Chiller Systems Group (CSG) recently held its annual meeting in downtown San Francisco. The gathering was hosted by American Chiller Service and was attended by more than 140 members, vendors, and guests representing independent chiller service contractors worldwide.

The meeting included highly technical roundtable discussions on Micro Control Systems (MCS), control retrofits, condenser relief optimization strategies, Turbocor technology, evaporative cooling opportunities, field software solutions, and Carrier 19XL/XR teardown best practices.

Scott Tracy, president, Chiller Systems Service Inc., Lakewood, Colo., received the Pat Rucker award for his years of support and many contributions of time and talent to CSG.

There were product offerings from platinum sponsor Midwest Parts, and presentations from sponsors Evaporcool, UtiliVisor, McQuay International, MCS, Smardt, Financial Risk Solutions, Condensor & Chiller, and Artic Cool. CSG subcommittees reported on Trane, Carrier, JCI, McQuay, Smardt, and Mag-Lev. Additionally, CSG committees on education, technical, marketing, website, and publicity supplied annual updates to members.

Roundtable breakout session topics included energy audits, rigging and signaling, VFD-shaft grounding, and chiller failure claims. For entertainment, the group enjoyed dinner at Gordon Biersch below the Bay Bridge. The 2013 annual meeting will be held May 20-22 in San Antonio at the Hyatt Riverwalk.
