Compressor, ACR, and High-Performance Conferences to Be Held in July

conferences at Purdue
At a previous year’s set of conferences held at Purdue University, attendees head in to a campus building for some of the seminars.

Purdue University will host three concurrent conferences with HVACR emphasis July 16-19, preceded by a series of short courses July 14-15.

The concurrent conferences are the 21st International Compressor Engineering Conference, the 14th International Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Conference, and the 2nd International High Performance Buildings Conference.

All will be held on the Purdue campus in West Lafayette, Ind. The primary focus is on hundreds of technical papers with authors on hand to summarize the papers and answer questions. Entire papers will be available to attendees on a CD-ROM.

The compressor engineering conference will feature updated information on recips, rotary, screw, scroll, linear, and centrifugal compressors; compressors for use with CO2; noise-reduction technologies; and compressor valve design and analysis.

The refrigeration and air conditioning conference will have reports on heat exchangers, refrigerant heat transfer and pressure drop, vapor compression cycle improvements, alternative cooling technologies, and heat-driven refrigeration systems.

The high-performance building conference will cover such topics as net-zero energy buildings, renewable energy systems, building envelopes, airflow, solar energy utilization, and sustainability.

Registration allows attendees to move between all three conferences depending on interest of the topics.

There will also be four short courses leading up the main three conferences, and they will cover advanced compressor modeling, an update on refrigerants, fundamentals of building energy auditing and energy management, and design of net-zero energy homes.

There will also be plenary sessions with keynote speakers.

Information on the conferences can be obtained at www.engineering.purdue.edu/herrick/events.
