hotel constructionCompany: Direct Expansion Solutions and HTS Texas (Houston)

Customer: New Horizons Hospitality’s Hilton Garden Inn (Houston)

Installation: Daikin McQuay VRV heat pump and heat recovery equipment, Daikin McQuay MPS rooftop units, and a Daikin McQuay Intelligent Touch Controller.

Completion: November 2012

Objective: Achieve LEED Gold rating with energy-efficient HVAC.

Work Completed: In an effort to reduce sound and provide cost-effective, energy-efficient HVAC equipment for the Hilton Garden Inn, HTS Texas and Direct Expansion Services (DXS) provided a solution for the 172-room hotel and its 6,000 square feet of banquet space.

The ASHRAE Standard 15-compliant solution includes 208 tons of Daikin McQuay VRV heat pump and heat recovery equipment, which was the basis for design, and 50 tons of Daikin McQuay MPS rooftop units with air-to-air enthalpy wheels for energy recovery. Also, an Intelligent Touch Controller provides central monitoring and controls for the building’s VRV equipment and rooftop ventilation units.

The new HVAC system will provide an optimal guest experience through energy savings and noise management.

“The hospitality industry continues to look for reliable, eco-friendly cooling solutions when selecting required large-scale HVAC equipment to meet environmental standards. DXS is proud to team with HTS Texas and our partners to provide New Horizons Hospitality and the Hilton Garden Inn with a comfortable interior climate for their valued guests, while increasing savings and energy efficiencies for the property.”
