SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Expanding its Commercial Replacement Expert (CRE) certification program, Carrier announced that it now offers two courses for residential dealers and commercial contractors looking to be more proficient in the growing 3- to 27.5-ton rooftop unit replacement business.

The CRE-101 course is designed for those relatively new to the light commercial replacement business, and provides information on rooftop application fundamentals, Carrier rooftop product orientation, and utility rebate and tax incentive information to help promote high-efficiency rooftop replacement products. The CRE-301 course is targeted to more experienced commercial contractors and participants, and is focused on complete systems and new legislative initiatives, featuring a virtual tour of a typical Carrier 5- to 10-ton rooftop replacement project. All CRE course participants receive training on specialized Carrier computer software that helps determine the optimal HVAC system configuration, long-term operating costs, and energy savings potential based on each building’s unique specifications.

“Through the Carrier CRE certification program, dealers and contractors can increase the profitability of their businesses by offering the added service of energy analysis for their customers,” said Greg Alcorn, vice president, commercial sales and marketing, Carrier Residential and Commercial Systems. “The feedback and testimonials from those who have taken the training have shown us how much value participants are able to bring to their customers.”

Alcorn added, “When dealers and contractors complete the CRE courses, they are able to evaluate a building’s rooftop system and recommend a replacement unit that satisfies the application requirements and provides energy savings, while complying with the latest building codes.”

Utilizing the Carrier software, dealers and contractors can provide detailed reports to customers on equipment selection, perform operating and life-cycle cost analyses, and investigate local utility rebates to help validate higher efficiency equipment. CRE participants also receive tools that allow them to market their status as a Carrier Certified Replacement Expert to their customers.
