ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Tecumseh Products Co. has announced the appointments of Claudia Andrea da Silva as global motor technology manager and Scarlet Bryce Hauff as global material technology manager in order to strengthen the company’s global research and development capabilities.

In her new role, da Silva will lead Tecumseh’s global efforts in motor technology with a specific focus on efficiency improvements. Hauff will lead Tecumseh’s global efforts in material technology, specializing in lubricants, refrigerants, and polymer technologies such as plastic and rubber. Both da Silva and Hauff will be part of Tecumseh’s global technology team. They will be based at the soon-to-open Tecumseh Technology Center in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Da Silva joined Tecumseh’s South America operation in June 2008 as administrator of Electrical Motor Group - New Technologies, after more than 20 years at Embraco S.A. and WEB S.A. Hauff comes to Tecumseh after 25 years at Embraco S.A. where she was responsible for the chemical laboratory.

Tecumseh’s new engineering and R&D facility will join certified Tecumseh labs in France, Brazil, and India to form the backbone of the company’s global engineering strategy with increased focus on research, development, and applications. Much of the current lab in Tecumseh, Mich., will be relocated to the Ann Arbor facility where the company’s testing and evaluation capabilities have been upgraded. The new Technology Center is slated to be in operation this spring.
