CHICAGO — The Melink Corp.’s Intelli-Hood kitchen ventilation control was named the Product of the Year at the Innovation Awards ceremony at the 2012 AHR Expo.

“While it is a surprise, it is a great honor to have the Melink Intelli-Hood named Product of the Year,” said Bryan Miller, engineering manager, Melink Corp. “Energy efficiency and sustainability permeates throughout Melink, and I feel like that spirit is shown in this product and resonates with our customers.”

The Intelli-Hood Kitchen product reduces exhaust and make-up fan speeds during idle, noncooking conditions, yielding fan-energy savings of up to 90 percent and conditioned air savings of up to 50 percent. The unit adjusts the speed of the fan by measuring the temperature, steam, and smoke in the hood. The system consistently runs at a minimum speed of 10 to 50 percent, but can increase to speeds of up to 100 percent while cooking to provide complete smoke and vapor removal.

The Ohio-based company is a provider of energy-efficient and renewable-energy solutions for commercial and institutional facilities. The company offers building commissioning services, kitchen ventilation controls, and solar photovoltaic systems.
