ACEEE Founds Scholarship

WASHINGTON — Linda Latham, COO of American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), succumbed to breast cancer on Sept. 24, 2011. According to ACEEE, although she had been with ACEEE for a short time, she had an enormous positive impact on the organization. She not only improved the organization’s finance and operational systems, but she also mentored staff and contributed substantially to its energy work, said ACEEE. Equally important, she added to the esprit de corps at ACEEE by recognizing accomplishments and adding fun into people’s work lives, said the organization.

In Linda’s honor, ACEEE is establishing the Linda Latham Memorial Scholarship Fund to provide scholarships to college and graduate students to attend ACEEE’s Summer Study conferences. The organization initiated student scholarships a few years ago, which were funded by friends of ACEEE. Linda was a strong supporter of these efforts, believing that they were important to help build the next generation of energy-efficiency leaders. With the establishment of this fund, ACEEE will be able to expand these scholarships to help more future leaders, said the organization.
