WINNIPEG, Manitoba - The Red River College of Applied Arts, Science and Technology will offer its “Residential HVACR” course Sept. 7, 2010 through Feb. 8, 2011.

D. Brian Baker will be the course instructor. Baker said, “This course is ever-changing and, in fact, this year a new textbook is being used that is right up to date in technology.” The new text isThe Fundamentals of HVAC/Rby Carter Stanfield and David Skaves.

The course explores topics such as heat and matter, basic gas laws, electrical conductors, electrical fundamentals, test instruments, transformers and motors, thermostats, indoor air quality, and more. The course flyer states, “Gain the skills to launch your career in the HVAC/R Residential and Light Commercial industry or advance your present knowledge. Study air distribution, air conditioning, gas heating, air-to-air heat pumps, and oil heating, beginning with a core competency review of safety and fundamental principles.”
