The line of fan coil units has been extended with a vertical, floor-mounted unit. The Model FW unit is available in sizes from nominal 200 to 1,200. The unit has been designed to match the dimensions of the most common models installed in the United States, so it can be used for renovation projects. Cabinet heights and widths can be varied in 1-inch increments up to 12 inches to accommodate existing architectural features and units are available in concealed, exposed, or sloped-top configurations. A sloped, stainless steel drain pan helps to avoid standing water. Indoor environmental quality is further enhanced by the use of closed-cell foam insulation, that offers a higher insulating value than fiberglass and ensures no wicking of condensate, says the company. MERV 8 or MERV 13 filters improve filter efficiency. Energy management options include a programmable thermostat that utilizes a time clock for temperature setback, and a passive infrared (PIR) sensor that determines setback based on occupancy. The manufacturer’s field equipment controller (FEC) can be used for network or wireless communications. The networkable unit is also able to communicate with a building automation system using a centralized control. The unit can be supplied with factory-mounted direct digital controls or unit-mounted digital thermostats, and factory-mounted piping packages arrive on the jobsite with actuators wired to the controller.
