The expanding Dakota Supply Group completed construction on its new 20,000-square-foot building in Mitchell, S.D.

FARGO, N.D. - Dakota Supply Group (DSG) has expanded its product selection in the Twin Cities with the purchase of Shelter Supply, an HVAC distributor formerly located in Burnsville, Minn. Shelter Supply will become part of DSG’s Mechanical Group and will operate out of its St. Paul, Minn., location.

As a manufacturer’s representative and master distributor for some of the nation’s leading manufacturers of commercial and residential ventilation products, Shelter Supply has specialized in providing sustainable, energy-efficient solutions to HVAC contractors, home builders, and remodelers since 1980. These products will now be sold under the name DSG. In addition, DSG will continue to provide comprehensive training and technical assistance with the application of innovative and eco-friendly building practices.

“Shelter Supply shares our customer-first philosophy,” said Tom Rosendahl, president of DSG. “We’re confident that this acquisition will serve to strengthen our focus on building relationships, adding value for our customers, and providing system solutions.”

“By joining DSG, we will be able to offer our customers greater product choices, more project solutions, and even improved customer service,” said Dan Miller, formerly of Shelter Supply and now St. Paul mechanical branch manager for DSG. “This is an important step forward that’s going to be very positive for our customers.”

DSG now has 17 locations throughout Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. It recently completed construction on its new building in Mitchell, S.D., and is now open for business. This 20,000-square-foot building has more than three times the total storage space of its former location. It provides Mitchell, S.D., and the surrounding communities with a broad inventory of electrical, plumbing, heating, waterworks, and filtration products.

“We think our new Mitchell branch looks great, and we are very happy to have it completed,” said Rosendahl. “New facilities, like the one in Mitchell, allow us to better contribute to the success of our customers.”
