ST. LOUIS - Emerson Climate Technologies has announced extensions to its ProAct™ software suite that enable retailers to participate in demand response programs offered by utilities. These demand response programs compensate retailers that agree to reduce electricity usage during periods of high demand. With ProAct software’s new capabilities, retailers may curtail loads and verify performance themselves, without partnering with a Curtailment Service Provider or installing additional hardware, said Emerson. These programs may potentially enable retailers to receive rebates of up to $3,000 per store annually.

“With incredible pressure to reduce operational costs, demand response programs are an appealing option for today’s leading retailers,” said Bill Coulombe, president of Emerson Climate Technologies, Retail Solutions Division. “When combined with our E2 Facility Management System, these new capabilities may enable retailers to receive thousands of dollars per year per site, where programs exist. It’s a true win-win-win solution for the retailer, the utility, and the environment.”

In addition to adding demand response capabilities, ProAct software’s new interface allows users to quickly understand the performance of their enterprise in terms of energy, maintenance, asset performance, and compliance metrics. It also helps users to quickly understand which stores need resources assigned to them, and which stores have best practices related to energy, service, setpoint management, and facility alarms.

The ProAct software suite is a key component of Emerson’s Intelligent Store™ architecture. The Intelligent Store architecture is an integrated suite of products and services designed to provide retail operators with a higher level of operational sophistication, to enable maintenance, energy, and other savings. Also included in the Intelligent Store architecture are the E2 Facility Management System, Control Link™ device controllers, Intelligent Store Discus® compressors, select Lennox® rooftop units, and other third-party devices.
