ROCKVILLE, Md. - The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) announced that the Mechanical Contracting Education and Research Foundation (MCERF) is creating a national scholarship to honor the memory and legacy of Foster McCarl Jr. and to expand its support for deserving students majoring in disciplines related to mechanical contracting. MCAA noted that McCarl is widely regarded as the “father of the Mechanical Contracting Foundation” (now known as MCERF).

The scholarship, in the amount of $2,500, will be awarded annually to a deserving student during the Student Chapter Luncheon at the MCAA convention. Its creation was officially announced at the 2009 Student Chapter Summit in Denver. Only juniors or fourth-year students in a five-year program will be eligible for the scholarship. Student chapter faculty advisors will be provided with a complete list of criteria to select their nominee for the scholarship.
