CHANTILLY, Va. - The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association’s (SMACNA’s) 66th Annual Convention will focus on the state-of-the-art in construction, including building information modeling (BIM), green construction, and energy efficiency, from Oct. 11-15 at the Desert Springs JW Marriott Resort and Spa in Palm Desert, Calif.

The convention will include a wide variety of educational programs presented by industry experts on leading-edge issues in construction - LEED, energy efficiency, and sustainability. Former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee will speak at Sunday evening’s opening session. Gov. Huckabee campaigned last year for the presidential nomination, served as governor from 1996 to 2007, was honored byTimemagazine as one of the five best governors in America, and has his own show “Huckabee” on the Fox News channel.

Business sessions will include how to control your accounts receivables, how to survive a recession, family succession planning, and how to increase efficiency with lean production. Market Sector Council sessions on HVAC, industrial, residential, and architectural will deliver top quality, market-specific programming. These sessions will provide specific solutions to meet the needs of sheet metal and air-conditioning contractors.
