DALLAS - TDIndustries received three national excellence in construction awards from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), presented to the firm at the 18th Annual Excellence in Construction Awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Westway Park, a LEED-certified project, Houston, earned a first place Eagle Award. The building information modeling software used in this project enabled the team to visually see in 3-D how the exposed double wall spiral ductwork was going to interface with the structure and the light coves. As a result, decisions regarding the location of the ductwork were made before the duct was installed, avoiding future change orders to move the duct in the field.

The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano and The Joule Hotel (Hotel Elan) earned a Pyramid Award (second place). Located in downtown Dallas, the Hotel Elan’s $9.4 million mechanical system installation involved TD’s engineering expertise, including: using vertical water-source heat pumps in the guest rooms; employing boilers with heat exchangers over gas-fired water heaters; and deleting condensate drain risers and drain to lavatory tailpiece. Value added decisions utilized on this project resulted in a realized savings of $350,000. TDIndustries self-performed over 90 percent of the work.

“We are honored to be recognized for some of our best projects,” said Harold MacDowell, CEO of TDIndustries Inc. “More importantly, because this competition requires recommendations from our customers as part of the submission, these awards reflect outstanding customer satisfaction for TDIndustries’ projects.”
