MISSISSAUGA, Ontario - Mark Boncardo, the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada’s (HRAI’s) chair, announced the most recent recipient of HRAI’s Orvil L. Davie Memorial Fund bursary - Trevor Finn of Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology. The Orvil L. Davie Memorial Fund was established in 1987 in honor of HRAI’s first chair. The purpose of the fund is to encourage students to seek a career in the HVACR industry by providing bursaries to those requiring financial assistance. Over 70 percent of the current fund balance consists of direct donations from companies in the HVACR industry.

Finn, who recently completed his certificate of Gas & Oil Tech III, became interested in a career in the HVACR industry while he was working as a domestic appliance serviceman. He believes the integrity and dedication he put forth in the Utilities Systems Operator program has given him a better understanding and a great deal of knowledge to help him succeed in this trade. Rick Elliott, president of McKeough Supply Inc., presented Trevor with the award at the McKeough Supply Inc’s office in Brantford.

Recipients of the Orvil L. Davie Bursary can apply the award to their registration/tuition fees, training materials, or travel and living expenses related to their course of study.
