BREA, Calif. - Controls Group North America (CGNA) marked its 25th anniversary by welcoming members, preferred vendors, and guests to the organization’s Synergy Conference and Silver Anniversary Celebration held in Las Vegas at the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa.

Sponsored by several of CGNA’s prominent manufacturing partners, the conference brought together over 150 building controls distributors and preferred vendor partners to celebrate the organization’s 25 year history and continual mission to serve as an innovative forum for those involved in HVAC/building controls and its supporting industries.

The speakers at the conference explored topics ranging from synergy to an abundance mentality and the importance of a united vision. There were also several industry roundtables geared towards peer networking, education, and exchanging feedback on accomplishing mutual goals between CGNA distributors and manufacturers.

To further commemorate the anniversary of the group, CGNA honored its history and founding members with a gala dinner and awards presentation. Several members and preferred vendors were recognized for their outstanding 2007 business performances and efforts.

A special Founders Award was given to Frank Shibilski, formerly of Climactic Controls, who was credited as the “Father of CGNA” in recognition of his leadership and achievement in advancing the role of building control distributors.

Three other awards were also presented. The 2007 Preferred Vendor of the Year was given to TAC, Loves Park, Ill.; the 2007 Preferred Vendor Award of Excellence was presented to Automation Components Inc., Middleton, Wis.; and the 2007 Board of Director’s Award was awarded to M&M Controls Inc., Timonium, Md.

CGNA also recognized its 25 year charter members: Cochrane Supply & Engineering Inc., Madison Heights, Mich.; Columbus Temperature Control Co., Columbus, Ohio; G&O Thermal Supply Co., Chicago; George T. Hall Co., Anaheim, Calif.; Minvalco Inc., Minneapolis; and Tempaco Inc., Orlando, Fla.
