Hewlett Packard: Data Center Cooling Rack
July 28, 2008
The Modular Cooling System (MCS) G2, is a second-generation, liquid-cooling rack. It uses bidirectional cooling technology designed for data centers with dense computing infrastructure and limited space. The rack cools two server racks simultaneously or concentrates up to 35 kW to cool a single rack. Features include a decreased 15.8 gallons per minute (gpm) for max cooling; expansion rack CTO capable of supporting up to 2,000 pounds of servers, storage, and blades; adjustable temperature set point; polycarbonate front door to considerably reduce ambient noise; and automatic door release mechanism. It can be integrated with HP Systems Insight Manager and is configurable with servers and storage via the company’s Factory Express service.
