A new series of 20- to 60-ton WeatherMaker large rooftop (LRT) air conditioning units, the WeatherMaker LRT Series, uses Puron refrigerant and exceeds ASHRAE 90.1-2007 efficiency requirements. According to the manufacturer, the series represents significant improvements in both efficiency and replacement compatibility. Utilizing Novation™ heat exchanger technology, the rooftop units provide increased corrosion protection while lessening the amount of refrigerant required, thereby minimizing maintenance and operational costs. Designed as a direct replacement for thousands of existing hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC)-based legacy rooftop air conditioners, the series is available in eight sizes and multiple configurations – cooling, cooling with gas heating, and cooling with electric heat. The rooftop units are available in vertical or horizontal discharge arrangements and constant or variable air volume, which allows the units to be customized for a variety of applications.
