James A. Pappas

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - James A. Pappas, president of PJ Mechanical Corp., a privately held HVAC installation and service company, will accept the 2008 Man of the Year Award at the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America’s (CCFA’s) Long Island Chapter Spring Gala on May 9, 2008. James A. (Jamie) Pappas is the chapter’s immediate past president and longtime advocate.

PJ Mechanical is headquartered in New York City and was founded by Peter A. Pappas Sr., who serves today as its chairman. Peter J. Pappas Jr. serves with Jamie as co-president of the company. Peter Sr. has accepted the role of cochairman for the gala, and Peter Jr. will be one of the gala’s journal cochairmen.

Event underwriters include Aragon Construction, MDA Contracting Inc., and Air Perfect Corp.

Jamie and his wife, Lisa, became involved in CCFA in 1995 when their first child and only daughter, Arianna, was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at age five. “With an unlimited reservoir of energy and unshakable resolve, Jamie and Lisa fought on two fronts - against the cruelty of Crohn’s disease and for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s Long Island Chapter,” the group reports. “Everyone who knows the Pappases and their extended families knows of their commitment to CCFA.”
