New programmable unitary and variable air volume (VAV) controllers have been added to the ComfortPoint™ HVAC control system offerings. The controllers are compliant with the networking specifications from LonMark® International. According to the manufacturer, they complement the company’s existing BACnet-based controllers, delivering a comprehensive, open, and interoperable solution that cuts installation costs, as well as total cost of ownership. Features include time-of-day control load optimization, pressurization/depressurization, and night purge. The VAV controller, available with and without an actuator, can manage single- or dual-duct VAV or complex room carbon dioxide control. Engineers can program the unitary controller for a wide range of applications, such as constant volume air handlers, heat pumps, unit vents, or fan coils. The ComfortPoint interface provides a single view of all HVAC information and gives users command and control options based on their authorization level. The programming and operating functions are also combined on the interface. ComfortPoint is compatible with the building automation platform Enterprise Buildings Integrator™ (EBI). Migration to EBI allows the user to go beyond HVAC controls by integrating everything from access control and security monitoring to fire alarms and digital video surveillance.
