Techs to Contractor: Time for Your Haircut

CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Buddy Smith, president of Russell’s Heating and Cooling, had to make good on a bet he had made earlier this year with his service technicians. The bet was that no one could maintain a passing score in all five of their key performance indicators for a solid month - no exceptions!
“It seemed like a pretty safe bet, I thought my hair would be safe,” said Smith. “Most technicians are very good at two or three of the measurements, and it is very difficult to excel in all areas.” But Corey Lesko, a service technician with Russell’s, stepped up to the challenge. He maintained a 100-percent-plus rating in all categories.
So, after a company meeting on Sept. 25, Lesko celebrated his victory in front of his coworkers by shaving Smith’s head.
Lesko, who has been with the company two years, said, “I can’t believe you are letting me do this,” as he started shaving with a pair of clippers. He finished by lathering up Smith’s head and shaving it with a razor.
