MISSISSAUGA, Ontario - During the first quarter 2007, all industry sectors showed a decrease in shipments as compared to the same time last year, according to statistics from the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI).

Residential air conditioning shipments decreased by 42 percent from 70,621 to 41,293. Residential furnace shipments decreased by 5 percent, totaling 57,717. Dropping just 3 percent, commercial air conditioning shipments decreased from 9,716 to 9,391. Unit heater shipments decreased 15 percent from 8,304 to 7,095, and ductless split system shipments decreased by 21 percent from 9,876 to 7,817.

Dropping 16 percent, chiller bookings decreased from 239 to 201.
