WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Red River College of Applied Arts, Science, and Technology is offering a residential HVAC course beginning Oct. 16. The classes will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday until Feb. 28, 2008.

It is designed for individuals building a career in the HVAC residential and light commercial industry, and uses the North American Technician Excellence (NATE) Reference Manual. The course training is intended to assist technicians in preparing for the NATE Certification Exams.

The program includes extensive information on all major service topics, troubleshooting suggestions, and problem solving techniques.

According to the college, theoretical studies coupled with a minimum of two or three years of practical trade experience will prepare apprentices to meet the NATE competency based examination challenge. Training will start with a core competency review of safety and fundamental principals and will be followed by introductory study, overview, and preparation for five of the 10 individual NATE service and 10 installation specialty exams.
