PALO ALTO, Calif. - Frost & Sullivan has selected Zensys Inc. as the recipient of the 2006 Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Innovation in recognition of the company's development of Z-Wave, an interoperable, RF-based, wireless mesh networking technology designed for controlling all of the devices in a home.

"Z-Wave technology transforms any device in your home into an intelligent networkable product that can be closely monitored and controlled via wireless communication," explained Frost & Sullivan Industry Manager Sivakumar Muthuramalingam. "Z-Wave provides mass-market consumers with reliable, easy-to-use home control that facilitates safety, comfort, and convenience at an affordable price."

This interoperable, short-range wireless mesh network communications technology enables wireless control of a wide array of home devices including HVAC, lighting, appliances, entertainment, access and security systems, and more.

Z-Wave technology is said to enable improved coverage and reliability of large residences covering more than 10,000 square feet without requiring “line of sight” to deliver the signal. With a capacity of up to 232 devices, Z-Wave solutions can be used for considerably large homes.

Zensys is continuing to develop products to address emergent consumer needs such as energy conservation, remote home management, safety and security, and digital health care, apart from enhancing the lifestyle by adding comfort and convenience.

"Zensys is a founder and principal member of the Z-Wave Alliance, a consortium of more than 125 companies actively developing wireless home control products based on the Z-Wave open standard," noted Muthuramalingam. "Alliance members explain that they chose Z-Wave over competing technologies for four simple reasons: because it works, it's here now, it's affordable, and it will soon be ubiquitous."
