WASHINGTON — The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) has endorsed the economic growth initiative announced by President Bush, and has urged Congress to take quick action on the plan.

"This is exactly the right plan for the economy," said Dirk Van Dongen, president of NAW. "This program will help everyone participate in the economic recovery, both business — large and small — and individuals. The president is to be applauded for taking this strong and decisive initiative. We need to restore both business and consumer confidence in the economy, and the president's proposal is a significant step in the right direction."

"Given the slow pace of the recovery to date, there is no time to waste," stated Jade West, NAW senior vice president-Government Relations. "It is critical that they act quickly and decisively to take up the president's proposal. We hope all members of Congress will put politics and partisan differences aside and do what is right for the economy and for all Americans."

"Economic growth means more jobs. Growth reduces deficits caused by soft economic activity. We need to pass the president's proposals quickly, and NAW's members will work hard to make this happen," Van Dongen added.
