ARLINGTON, Va. — The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) has announced that the HVACR software design products offered by Wrightsoft and Elite Software have been approved as meeting the association's industry-standard technical procedures. Specifically, Wrightsoft's Right-J and Elite's RHVAC products have been approved as meeting the standards set by ACCA's Manual J residential load calculation method, required by many building codes around the nation.

A new logo, "Powered by ACCA," has been developed to identify software applications which correctly use the procedures developed by ACCA for proper sizing, design, and installation of HVACR systems.

"Only those products offered by Wrightsoft and Elite have been approved by ACCA," stated Paul T. Stalknecht, ACCA’s president and CEO. "There are many other software applications which claim to provide load calculation — many of them even erroneously, and illegally, use the phrase 'Manual J' to describe their products. I cannot stress enough that none of these products have been reviewed by, or authorized by, ACCA, and therefore they may not meet the requirement for conducting a Manual J load calculation in many jurisdictions. Only Wrightsoft and Elite have been authorized and approved."

ACCA now makes the full range of Wrightsoft and Elite Software products available to its members at a discount. The products can be ordered online at www.acca.org or by calling 888-290-2220.

Other software providers may submit their products for testing and licensing approval by contacting Glenn Hourahan, ACCA vice president for Research & Technology, at glenn.hourahan@acca.org or 703-575-4477.
