ROCKVILLE, Md. — The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) has announced that its first venture in collaborating with another organization on a student program worked well, and both groups will proceed again this year.

MCAA and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) will continue their collaborative relationship on MCAA’s 2003 Student Chapter Competition. ASHRAE will present the winning design from its student competition to MCAA for its contest. Again, MCAA will add various mechanical elements — and maybe a twist or two — to enhance the project’s challenges, says the association.

The two group’s experimented with the partnership on MCAA’s 2002 competition. That project was an athletic and recreational facility in Lincoln, Neb.

Details on the 2003 competition, including rules, guidelines, and deadlines, will be announced at MCAA’s 2003 Student Chapter Summit in Milwaukee, Sept. 25-26.
