KEARNEY, NE — There is a new website for homeowners to learn how to deal with power outages. The website,www.powerprotectiononline.org, is designed to protect homes and electronic equipmentbeforethunderstorms and lightning strike.

The site contains prevention tips including, “how to keep surges from frying your computer,” and “where to plant trees so they don’t grow into power lines.” The site also includes an interactive Home Wattage Wizard to help select an appropriate-size power backup system. By selecting which appliances they’d like to power up during an outage, homeowners are advised on how much “juice” they’ll need to produce.
