MISSISSAUGA, ON, Canada — According to the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI), Canadian residential air conditioning shipments increased 89 percent during the third quarter of 2002. Residential furnace shipments increased by 8 percent and commercial air conditioning shipments were up by 3 percent.

Unit heater shipments in Canada decreased by 16 percent, while chiller bookings were down by 8 percent.

Year to date, for the first three quarters of 2002, residential air conditioning shipments were ahead by 51 percent, followed by residential furnaces at 11 percent, and chiller bookings at 10 percent. Unit heater and commercial air conditioning figures were down, by 18 percent and 2 percent respectively.
