WASHINGTON, DC — The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) reports that the National Association of State Contractors’ Licensing Agencies (NASCLA) recently met with MCAA and other trade associations here about its proposal to develop national contractor licensing.

The National Contractor Competency Examination (NCCE) would be a uniform contractor licensing exam that would replace the various state exams, with the intent of reducing redundancy and improving the quality of testing. The NCCE would be implemented for general contractors first and then expanded to specialty contractors.

NASCLA publishes the Contractor’s State Licensing Information Directory, which provides regulating authorities, licensing offices, and requirements by state. For additional information, visit www.nascla.org (website).
