Oct. 14, 2002: ICP Signs Exclusive Deal With Sears To Build Kenmore HVAC Equipment
“Sears and its Kenmore brand have set the standard in continually providing customers with the products they want, ” said ICP president Halsey Cook. “ICP is proud to continue playing a role in that tradition.”
Last month, Sears announced it would be the exclusive retailer of Carrier-brand residential HVAC equipment. Carrier and ICP are subsidiaries of United Technologies Corp. Both agreements take effect Jan. 1, 2003. Terms were not disclosed.
“ICP has a long and successful history of manufacturing some of the industry’s best heating and air conditioning equipment,” said Lyle Heidemann, executive vice president and general manager for Sears’ Hardlines. “ICP’s track record will help make Kenmore an even stronger brand name in this product area.”
Additionally, ICP’s energy-efficient products will help Sears continue to develop programs to help educate consumers to the features and benefits of using Energy Star-labeled products, a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Energy (DOE) program aimed at helping businesses and consumers identify energy-efficient solutions. Sears has been named the Energy Star Retail Partner of the Year for the past three years.
“ICP will help Sears and the Kenmore brand continue its leadership position, especially as more homeowners continue to demand Energy Star products as a way to conserve energy and save money,” said Mark Good, executive vice president and general manager for Sears’ Product Repair Services (PRS) business.
